Membership in the Higher Education Loan Coalition is open to all institutions that administer Loans to students. Other parties who support the Coalition’s work may also apply for a non-institutional membership. The Board of Directors must approve non-institutional membership.
Types of Membership:
All dues-paying members are considered voting members of the Coalition, and each member has a single vote. Institutions that are active in Direct Lending and that participate in Coalition activities are considered nonvoting members. Any person or group who has made a notable contribution to the field of student financial aid, the Coalition, or the Direct Loan Program may be given an honorary or emeritus membership by the HELC Board of Directors. Honorary or emeritus members are considered nonvoting members of the organization.

$400 for regular membership
$1,200 for leadership level membership*
*In addition to the normal benefits of membership, Leadership level membership permits Leadership schools to attend all meetings of the HELC Board of Directors in Washington, DC and attend activities including meetings with the U.S. Department of Education, and members of Congress.
