HELC works on behalf of higher education institutions and financial aid professionals as a liaison to the U.S. Department of Education to facilitate the efficient delivery of loans. In this important role, the Coalition relays members’ priorities to the Department of Education and other key players in the Direct Loan process and helps members get the information they need to improve their service to students. In particular, the Coalition facilitates communication regarding:
- Direct Loan servicing
- Resource utilization
- Systems software products and improvements
- Problem resolution
